Katarina working on artwork

Some commissions leave a lasting impression—not just in the spaces they fill, but in the journey of creating them. This was one of my first large-scale artworks, a 36” x 60” floral composition titled Labor of Love. Framed in dark wood, it was intricate, layered, and full of movement. It was also the beginning of an artistic dialogue that would unfold over time.

A year later, my client returned, this time envisioning something different for her bathroom. She was drawn to the luminous quality of Capiz shells, and together, we created a 36” x 36” piece crafted from hand-cut, heat-manipulated shells, set within a white float mount frame. The organic shimmer of the shells brought a subtle elegance to the space—soft, reflective, and serene.

For the third commission, we turned to the bedroom. Measuring 15” x 58”, this artwork was designed to sit above her bed, a quiet yet striking presence in the room. Each of these pieces is different in scale, material, and feel, yet together, they tell a story—one of a home filled with intention, where every detail is chosen with care.

As my client put it, “I want to decorate my home with things I really, really love.” In a world where trends come and go, what remains is the feeling we get from the pieces we bring into our spaces. These commissions were about creating something personal, timeless, and deeply meaningful—pieces that would truly belong in her home. As she later told me, “I am so happy I get to adorn my home with your art.”
