Some custom artwork commissions start with a clear vision. Others begin with a phone call and a little curiosity, like this one from a lovely client in Pawleys Island, South Carolina.

They weren’t sure exactly what they wanted, but they knew two things: they loved my Wave series of coastal shell art and had a soft spot for hydrangea-inspired textures.

After chatting, they sent over photos of their living room and the wall measurements to help me understand the space. Originally, they thought two pieces might work, but I created a few artwork mockups showing how both two- and three-piece layouts would look on the wall.

We explored different seashell compositions together until the triptych idea felt just right.

The final decision?

Three unique coastal-inspired shell artworks, each with a distinct layout, framed in oak floater frames that complemented their existing interior design perfectly.

The finished bespoke seashell artworks were carefully packed and shipped via courier—on Easter Sunday, no less—and arrived safely the same day.

Not long after, I received this note from the client:

I wanted to thank you for our beautiful artworks. They turned out just like I had hoped and I feel like it completes that room. We could not be more pleased. Thank you again. They look so much better than in the pictures.

Whether it’s for a serene beach house or a modern coastal home, custom shell art brings so much life to a space. It’s always an honor to help clients visualize what’s possible and then bring it to life... one shell at a time.
